WDC approved €7m investment in 2019

The Western Development Commission has approved €7m in investment across the western region in 2019.

More than 5,000 people are now employed directly and indirectly in WDC-supported companies.

IN 2019, the Western Development Commission investment fund approved new investment for 44 businesses and community projects across the seven western counties under its remit.

The investments were across a range of high-tech sectors, as well as more traditional sectors such as food and tourism.

In addition, WDC investment has leveraged another €250m.

In County Leitrim, the fund celebrated 15 years of investment in Cora Systems, a global software operation headquartered in Carrick on Shannon.

Cora Systems is a leading provider of enterprise project and portfolio management solutions that has grown from its base in Leitrim to become the largest software company operating in the north west of Ireland with more than 80 staff.

Other investments include Cerebreon Technologies in County Donegal, which offers an enterprise software solution to automatically carry out financial and administrative processes.

The WDC investment fund has to date invested almost €57m in 188 SMEs, micro and social/community enterprises in the region.
