“Minister Creed must reverse his decision to put convergence on hold for the CAP” – Loftus



“To put internal convergence on hold for a transitional period of the Common Agricultural Policy is a sickening despicable attack on the poorest sector of Irish agriculture. ”

That’s according to Founder of Ireland’s Future, Gerry Loftus, has said he is furious by the announcement by
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed to keep CAP payments as they are.

Mr Loftus claims that after 15 years of the introduction of CAP, there is a situation where 53,000 farmers have a payment of €6,000 or less and another 30,000 farmers are on €10,000 or less and that Minister Creed has decided that farmers on the lowest payments are the farmers that should suffer.

Speaking earlier to Ocean FM News, Mr. Loftus is calling on Fianna Fail and the government to make immediate changes to the proposed legislation:
