Thomas Walsh added to Fine Gael ticket for general election



Fine Gael councillor Thomas Walsh has been added to the party’s General Election ticket for the Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and North Roscommon constituency.

 

 

Cllr Walsh, from Ballygawley, Co Sligo was added to the ticket following a meeting of Fine Gael’s Executive Council last night.

 

 

The 34 year old Councillor is the second Fine Gael candidate to the contest the election in the constituency and will be joined by Senator Frank Feighan who was previously selected by the Party.

 

 

Cllr Walsh, was elected to Sligo County Council in the Sligo-Drumcliff electoral area in this year’s local elections.

 

His selection ends a long running saga in relation to the selection of candidates after both Gerry Reynolds and Sinead Maguire, the original two candidates selected at a party convention last year both withdrew their names.

 

Speaking to OceanFM news Cllr. Walsh says he is looking forward to hitting the campaign trail.
