IFA accuse retailers of ‘hiding’ behind meat factories

Tesco has described this morning’s blockade by farmers at its Dublin distribution centre is “regrettable”.

A number of protesters have used a tractor and trailer to stop trucks getting in or out of the Donabate site.

It follows demonstrations at Lidl and Aldi’s distribution centres in Cork and Kildare last week.

The Irish Farmers Association has accused retailers like Tesco of “hiding” behind meat factories in the ongoing beef price dispute.

Kathleen Henry is the Sligo President of the IFA President.

Just before coming on air she spoke to OceanFM news from today’s protest in Donabate where she outlined how more farmers are expected to join the protest as the day progresses.
