Sligo councillor suggests concession be made for people on new N17 route for those who have planning permission

A Sligo councillor is suggesting that concessions be considered for people along a proposed route for the new N17 road in south Sligo whose plans for new houses or buildings may be affected.

South Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor Paul Taylor says the size of a so-called constraints area for the proposed new route is creating uncertainty for people requiring planning permission in an area stretching from Aclare to Ballymote.

The so-called ‘frozen’ zone or corridor is to enable all options for the proposed route to be considered.

But Councillor Taylor says it’s difficult and expensive for young families who are renting at present.

He said this issue also affects people who are selling sites.
