Sligo county councillors are to call on the Minister for Health to provide the necessary funding for a seven-day respite service for those with disabilities at a centre in Tullaghan in north Leitrim.
There is currently a five-day service in Tullaghan, which covers the Sligo/Leitrim area.
It replaces a former Sligo-based service.
However, Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy told this week’s meeting of Sligo County Council that a seven-day service is needed, particularly as weekend services are important for clients and their families.
