A Sligo/Leitrim and South Donegal TD says Bingo halls cannot be subjected to a 50 percent reduction in Bingo payouts.

Players from around the country will gather at Leinster House to highlight their opposition to new gambling laws being introduced this week.

The Gambling and Lottiers Bill will see any prize money from bingo reduced to 50 per cent of funds collected by operators.

The ‘Save our Bingo’ campaign group, which is organising the protest, says every bingo hall in the country will be negatively affected.

Fianna Fail TD Eamon Scanlon met with the group outside the Dail this afternoon to ensure the Gambling and Lottiers Bill is not trying to penalise bingo organisations but rather Casino halls and slot machines:
