The EJ Sligo All-Stars bowed out of the President’s National Cup at the quarter-final stage on Saturday night when they were well beaten by Fr Matthew’s in Cork 73-58.
The All-Stars trailed by just three points (31-28) at half-time but it was during the third quarter where the damage was done as Fr Matthew’s established an 18-point lead (57-39).
Sligo were unable to make meaningful inroads on that deficit in the closing quarter. Jesus San Martin was the team’s top scorer with 13 points but their Cork opponents were comfortable winners at full time.
