Lifting the Silence on Suicide events planned for Sligo & Leitrim

A number of talks on suicide are to take place in Sligo and Leitrim.

The ‘Lifting the Silence on Suicide’ talk is aimed at discussing what may lead someone to take their own life and how people can help prevent it.

The next two events are on the 28th of November in the Bee Park, Manorhamilton and on Monday the 2nd of December in Ballymote Family Resource Centre; registration for both is at 6.30pm with the talks taking place from 7pm to 9pm.

They will highlight the links between alcohol and substance misuse with mental health, someone will share their personal story on how they were affected by suicide and how someone can educate themselves on suicide prevention.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Suicide Bereavement Liaison Officer for Sligo/Leitrim with Pieta House, Anne Lynch says the aim is to ‘open up the conversation about suicide.’
