The National Learning Network in Leitrim has renewed it’s calls for independent housing to be provided in the town for participants of the course that attend the National Learning Network training centre which is based in the Bee Park Community Centre.
Planning applications have been lodged with the local authority over the past four years for such accommodation to be provided for people with disabilities, which would allow them to become more independent.
Niamh Keaney is instructor with the National Learning Network in Manorhamilton, she’s been telling Ocean FM news that it is vital that at least 5 participants on the course are able to avail of independent living accommodation close to the centre in the North Leitrim Town.
Miss Keaney feels that many of their members need to be living independently in order to evolve their life skills.
