Naomh Conaill reach Ulster club final

Donegal senior football champions Naomh Conaill are through to the 2019 Ulster senior club final after an impressive 0-12 to 0-9 win against Clontibret of Monaghan at Healy Park in Omagh on Saturday night.

It was a thoroughly deserved win for Martin Regan’s side who led by 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time despite having full-back AJ Gallagher black-carded for a foul on Clontibret’s Vinnie Corey.

Ciaran Thompson landed some exquisite long-range points in both halves – and the Glenties/Fintown men looked the hungrier and tidier team for much of the contest.

Man of the Match Eoghan McGettigan gave this reaction to Charlie Collins after the win:

Naomh Conaill now await the winners of Sunday’s semi-final between Derrygonnelly Harps (Fermanagh) and Kilcoo (Down).

These were the postmatch thought’s of Naomh Conaill’s Brendan McDyer:

Earlier, there was disappointment for the Donegal junior champions Buncrana, who lost their Ulster club final against Blackhill Emeralds of Monaghan by five points. Buncrana had led by three at half-time, but their opponents finished the stronger.
