Jimmy Sweeney set for third bare-knuckle world title defence this year

Sligo’s Jimmy Sweeney will defend his bare-knuckle world title, for the third time this year, when he takes on England’s Ricardo Franco at 02 Indigo in London, this Saturday.

Sweeney is a three-weight world champion in the sport and has won 24 of his 25 bare-knuckle boxing (BKB) bouts to date.

Jimmy spoke with Ocean FM sports Gary Feeney about his preparations for his world title bout:

The Celtic Warrior was due to square off against Franco in September but the BKB ‘Prizefighter’ winner decided to take some time off after back to back training camps.

The Sligo man instead fought Venezuela’s Jean Carlos Prada, winning by stoppage.

Sweeney vs Franco is the headline bout on Saturday’s pay-per-view BKB 19 card and is available to watch online here.
