Sligo’s Ruairi Lynch aiming to help St Peter’s University to college title in America



Sligo’s Ruairi Lynch will be on the sidelines later this week trying to help St Peter’s University from New Jersey to a men’s soccer college title.

Lynch is Assistant Coach at the New Jersey University, and they take on New York’s Marist College in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) semi-final at 6 pm (Irish time), this Thursday.

The St. John’s native, who is also the Director of Coaching at Princeton Soccer Association, helped St Peter’s to a record setting year in the regular season alongside Head Coach Julian Richens.

St Peter’s head into the semi-final as the number one seed (top-ranked team) after closing out the regular season with nine straight victories.

St Peter’s Assistant Coach, Ruairi Lynch spoke with Ocean FM sport’s Gary Feeney about his journey and this week’s match:

The winners will take on the victors of Thursday night’s second semi-final between Iona College and Quinnipiac University in the MAAC final on Sunday.

The MAAC winners will take part in the NCAA tournament which crowns the national champion.
