A Sligo Leitrim Sinn Fein TD claims that he is not overly worried about his safety after receiving a death threats for speaking out against right-wing anti-immigrant hate speech.

Spokesperson on Justice & Equality Martin Kenny has received what he describes as several “racist” messages in recent days after voicing concerns about what he believes is a ‘far-right’ influence in debates over plans to accommodate asylum seekers in Ballinamore in Leitrim.

The Sinn Fein TD reported to Gardai a message he received this week which referred to him as a “traitor” and claimed that the Leitrim politician would be “executed.”

Speaking within the last hour to Ocean FM News Deputy Kenny said he has received a lot of racist and sinister communications:

Speaking in the Dail, he criticised Fine Gael after he failed to get a commitment from the Tánaiste, to challenge racism and fascist ideas that occurs within the Fine Gael Party.

This comes as the news of  whats to be believed as 39 immigrant lost their lives on board a lorry in Essex in England.
