Last nights meeting of councillors from the Ballymote/Tubbercurry Municipal District was adjourned for 15 minutes as a mark of respect to the late Joe Shannon.
All the councillors paid tribute to him.
Director of Services Tom Kilfeather, on behalf of the council chief executive and staff, said the late Mr Shannon served his community well and then went to Carrick on Shannon where he also served that community.
Ballymote/Tubbercurry Municipal District Chairman Paul Taylor proposed the short adjournment of last night’s meeting.
