Calls for safety measures to be put in place at between Sooey and Conway’s Cross.

A Sligo councillor is calling for safety measures to be implemented at what is one of the busiest junctions beside a secondary school in the east of the county.

Fine Gael Councillor Gerard Mullaney will propose at a meeting this coming Monday of councillors from the Ballymote/Tubbercurry district that funding be sought for a Low-Cost Accident Scheme at Coola crossroads on the R284 road between Sooey and Conway’s Cross.

Cllr Mullaney says it’s a particularly busy area at school opening and closing times in the mornings and afternoons.
