Gweedore and Naomh Conaill must do it all again

Gweedore and Naomh Conaill will meet again next week as the sides played out a 0-8 to 0-8 draw in the final of the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure senior football championship at Mac Cumhaill Park in Ballybofey.

The Glenties men had an opportunity to win the game deep in added time but Dermot ‘Brick’ Molloy’s speculative kick in the dying moments went wide.

Listen back to Ocean FM Sport’s postmatch interview with Naomh Conaill manager Martin Regan:

Naomh Conaill had a shaky start to the game but recovered well to lead by 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time, having matched their opponents in most sectors.

Martin Reagan’s side extended the lead at the beginning of the second-half but four unanswered scores from Gweedore saw them take a two point lead with 15 minutes left.

Naomh Conaill pulled the game back level for a fifth time through an Eoghan McGettigan free and a Ciaran Thompson 45 to ensure both sides must do it all again next week.

Listen to the postmatch reaction of Gweedore’s Neil McGee. He spoke with Charlie Collins of the Donegal Sport Hub:

The replay has been fixed for next Sunday, Oct 27th, in Ballybofey at 3pm.
