St Farnan’s/St Pat’s win historic minor title



There were big celebrations in two football parishes in west Sligo on Saturday evening after St Farnan’s/St Pat’s (pictured) lifted the Sligo minor ‘A’ football championship title for the first time in their history after a 1-13 to 1-6 win against last year’s winners St Molaise Gaels, at Connolly Park in Collooney.

St Mary’s won a highly entertaining ‘B’ final earlier in the day as they edged Drumcliffe/Rosses Point by a single point, on a final scoreline of 4-11 to 3-13.

It took extra-time to separate Coolaney/Mullinabreena and Calry/St Joseph’s in the ‘C’ final at Scarden. There were 13 goals in the game as Coolaney/Mullinabreena eventually won by 6-14 (32) to 7-5 (26).
