Mayor Of Sligo calling on Government to not import Fracked Gas from US

A Sligo councillor has called the government ‘hypocritical’ for allowing the development of a fracked gas terminal in Shannon Airport.

People Before Profit Councillor and Mayor of Sligo, Gino O’Boyle, submitted a motion at this months meeting of Sligo County Council calling on the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar and Minister Richard Bruton not to import fracked gas from the United States.

Councillors unanimously passed the motion.

Speaking to Ocean FM, Councillor O’Boyle says the country is taking ‘one step forward and two steps back.’
