Nurses falling asleep at the wheel due to lack of sleep an ongoing issue says Sligo based honorary SIPTU President



The Sligo-based president of SIPTU is calling for something to change when it comes to number of nurses that have died in accidents on the roads.

Just two weeks ago, Kerrie Browne was killed, with Gardai claiming she fell asleep at the wheel after working a night shift in the Emergency Department at Kerry University Hospital.

This brings the total number to 3 nurses in their 20’s killed since January of last year.

All of these incidents occurred after nurses having worked overnight shifts in hospitals and emergency departments across the country.
