Lord Mountbatten’s housekeeper, 97 year old Philomena Barry, has died.

Mrs. Barry worked as the head housekeeper at Classiebawn Castle in Co. Sligo, where the Mountbatten family took their holidays.

She attended the memorial service in August to mark the 40th anniversary of the Mullaghmore explosion, commemorating the incident in which four people, including Lord Mountbatten, were killed by an IRA bomb, planted on his fishing boat.

Her funeral is to take place on Monday at 2pm in Mullaghmore.
