Sligo duo set for pro fights

Sligo’s Aaron Gethins and James Lynch are both in action at ‘Celtic Clash 9’ in Belfast this Saturday night.

Both boxers train under the tutelage of the Reynolds brothers, Stephen and Alan, and Aaron’s father Glen Gethins in Ballinacarrow Boxing Club in Sligo.

Lynch, who will be making his professional debut at the Devenish, is set to face-off against Scotland’s Gary McGuire at super welterweight.

The Sligo man is facing off against an experienced opponent for his first fight. McGuire has had 12 professional fights to date, albeit all losses.

Gethins will be contesting his third professional bout on Saturday.

The southpaw has recorded decision wins in both his previous fights and will be looking to move to 3-0 this weekend.

Like his fellow Sligo man, Gethins faces a much more experienced opponent on Saturday as he takes on Alexander Zeledon from Nicaragua.

Zeledon, who boxes out of Spain, currently has a record of five wins, three draws and seventeen losses.

A large Sligo crowd is expected in Belfast on Saturday as these two young fighters attempt to take the next step in their professional careers.
