Funding allocated for Carricknagat Bridge

Safety and refurbishment works are needed at Carricknagat Bridge in Co. Sligo as it is an ‘extremely dangerous stretch’.

That’s the view of Sligo Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh after raising the issue on Monday at the monthly meeting of Sligo County Council.

€20,000 has already been allocated for the works at the bridge, which connects Collooney to Ballisodare along the old N4 running beside the railway line.

Plans are already in place for a footpath to run under the bridge and works are due to be carried out towards the end of this year or the beginning of 2020.

Speaking at Sligo County Council, Councillor Walsh says the bridge is particularly dangerous.
