Scanlon calls for additional overnight respite services

A local TD is calling on the Government to not shy away from those that need to avail of overnight respite services.

New figures obtained by Sligo Leitrim, Fianna Fáil TD Eamon Scanlon shows a 33% decrease in respite overnight services in Donegal and a 16% decrease in Sligo and Leitrim area.

Deputy Scanlon claims that although he expects to see an increase locally in the number of overnight respite care for families and carers who look after people with disabilities the issue is still  a matter of urgency that department of health need to address.
