“Need change approach to forestry if Ireland to meet 18% target 2050” – Fianna Fáil TD Marc Mac Sharry

Ireland needs to diversify our programme for forestry and increase community engagement if we are to meet the 2050 forestry target.

That’s according Fianna Fáil TD for Sligo-Leitrim Marc Mac Sharry

Speaking on the issue in the Dáil Deputy Mac Sharry says, “we need to see a change approach to forestry if Ireland is to meet the 18% target for 2050.

Deputy MacSharrry added that In the North West there is justified anger in the approach taken so far.

He says Local communities are being ignored and a disproportionate concentration of Forestry is being permitted in certain areas.
