Motorists advised to dangerous driving conditions in north west



Motorists across the north west are advised to travel with care this morning as Storm Lorenzo makes its way across the country.

 

Locally there are reports of bad flooding in and around Donegal Town.

 

The Old Leaghy Road has been described as having a lot of surface water and is believed to be almost impassable at Donegal plumbing and heating.

 

Gardai are advising of excess surface water reported to be on the road at Frosses.

 

In Leitrim the emergency services have issued warnings of excess water on the Kinlough Road from Manorhamilton.  The Fire services are currently dealing with excess water on the road.  The Glencar to Manorhamilton road is also being describsed as being dangerous.

 

A yellow rain alert meanwhile for Connacht, Donegal, Leinster, Cavan and  Monaghan has been terminated by Met Eireann.

 

A  new status yellow wind warning for Longford, Westmeath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Clare.

 

The warning is valid from 0700 until 1100 this morning.
