RACO accept new pay deal

RACO – the Representative Association of Commissioned Officers – representing 1,100 commissioned officers in the Defence Forces has voted to accept a €10m package aimed at addressing the current recruitment and retention crisis.

Over two thirds of members voted in favour of the proposals which include Sunday rates, Military Service Allowance and pay for overseas.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Lieutenant Colonel Priestley says as an example of how short on personnel the defence forces are at present is evident that soldiers based in Finner Camp would be called to attend issues in Dublin.

Lieutenant Colonel Priestley if numbers are restored in the Defence Forces, this should be a thing of the past.
