Gardaí in Castlebar investigating the fatal shooting of the man at Aghamore, between Ballyhaunis and Knock yesterday have released without charge.
67 year old Brendan Kilduff was shot dead at Aghamore near Ballyhaunis on Tuesday.
Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, a man in his 80’s heard a noise outside his house in Aghamore.
He went outside with a gun and fired a number of shots to warn off any potential intruders. Brendan Kilduff was shot and died at the scene.
Investigating Gardai have confirmed that a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The post mortem has been completed, however the results will not be released for operational reasons.
Gardai say that Investigations are ongoing.
