United Ireland could impact funding for north west

A Thirty-two county state could pose economic burdens on underfunded national services such as Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals.

That’s according to a new report, published by British Politician and businessman Lord Michael Ashcroft,

The reports claims a 46% majority in Northern Ireland would be in favour of joining the south with 45% against reunification.

The reports also suggest that Government investment may be diverted away from the counties of Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal.

Sinn Féin spokesman on justice and equality, Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny believes the social and economic rewards outweigh any potential risk.
