Sligo IFA criticises meat processors for pulling out of talks

A County Sligo IFA official is this evening strongly criticising meat processors for pulling out of the talks aimed at seeking a resolution to the beef prices dispute.

Meat Industry Ireland has said some 20 plants representing 80% of processing capacity remained blockaded, despite its member companies having given an undertaking that legal actions would be deferred to enable talks to proceed.

MII it says that unless illegal blockades are suspended immediately, it cannot continue to engage in talks.

IFA County Sligo rural development chairman Eddie Davitt says there is deep disappointment by the decision of Meat Industry Ireland.
