Future of Sligo Veterinary Laboratory secured with upgrade plans

The long-term future of Sligo veterinary lab has been secured with major plans announced today to upgrade the existing facility.

“Agriculture Minister Michael Creed has confirmed that there will be the design, building and commissioning of a state-of-the-art laboratory in Sligo, replacing the existing facilities by the end of 2024.

“The plans have been announced as part of an estimated capital investment of €33.5m in rebuilding the Laboratory Network over the next 10 years.

Sligo Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin says the facility is of vital importance to the farming community in this region and represents a vote of confidence in the work that has been carried out in Dunally by past and existing staff over a long number of years.
