Overgrown hedges causing problems on roads

Hedge cutting needs to be made more of a priority by landowners in County Leitrim.

That’s according to Fine Gael Cllr Sean McDermott who says overgrown hedges are going to cause a serious accident particular on the counties regional roads as motorist are trying to avoid scraping their cars.

At present, however, under the Wildlife Act 2000, hedge cutting and burning are banned every year between March 1st and 31 August.

Cllr McDermott says it’s an issue that Leitrim County Council needs to address urgently.
