Bathing water samples to be taken at three Sligo beaches



Samples of the bathing water will be taken from three beaches in County Sligo today to determine if there is any risk to bathers.

Warning notices were erected by Sligo County Council at Rosses Point, Enniscrone and Mullaghmore beaches over the weekend.

They were to inform bathers that the water quality may be affected by the recent heavy rainfall.

The local authority says it took the action in order to prevent bathers’ exposure to possible pollution and to protect public health.

Over 40mm’ss of rain fell in parts of the region over the course of Friday and Friday night after a status yellow rainfall warning was issued for the region.
