Farmers continue to engage in meat factory protests



Farmers are continuing to protest outside a number of meat processing plants despite yesterday’s High Court injunction.

 

A temporary ban was put in place to prevent farmers picketing outside up to ten factories owned by Dawn Meats and ABP.

 

The ongoing beef dispute is primarily over the prices farmers are getting for their animals.

 

Gerard Pilkington is the Chair of the Sligo Beef Plan movement –  He Says that farmers are acting independently and that the protests have the capability of escalating
