Sligo councillors urged to adopt Traveller Accommodation Plan

The Sligo Traveller Support Group is calling on councillors to adopt an amended Traveller Accommodation Plan.

The plan, which sets out accommodation targets for the next 5 years, is due to be discussed at the next meeting of Sligo County Council on Monday, September 2nd.

It was deferred at the August meeting to allow time for Traveller representatives to discuss a number of issues of concern with elected representatives and council officials.

Following the deferral, a meeting took place between a number of county councillors, Sligo County Council staff and the Sligo Traveller Support Group.

Spokesperson Jamie Murphy outlines the main elements of the plan.
