Beef Plan movement reject outcome from talks process



The Beef Plan Movement has said it will not endorse the outcome of talks involving the Agriculture Minister aimed at securing better beef prices for farmers.

The group have accused Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed of failing farmers.

A range of actions were agreed including a review of the system used to value cattle when they are presented for slaughter.

Unofficial pickets have been placed on some meat processing facilities since yesterday evening.

Members of the group from the counties of Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and Mayo met in the Sligo Park Hotel, over the weekend.

 

Councillor Brendan Barry is member of the Beef plan in movement in Leitrim he says the fundamental reforms of the beef industry that were asked for in the beef talks simply have not been delivered.
