Belgium’s Max Drion wins 2019 Warriors Run



Belgium’s Max Drion win the 35 Warriors Run in Strandhill in county Sligo on Saturday in a winning time of 51 mins 56 secs.

Drion, who lives in Switzerland, was running the race for the first time and finished 20 seconds head of Tim O’Donoghue from East Cork Athletic Club – with Shaun Dixon from Phanos Amsterdam third.

Sligo AC’s Seamus Somer’s was fourth and the leading local finisher in a time of 56 mins 55 secs. He finished just ahead of his club mate Martin Brennan.

Beckie Quinn from Doonbeg in county Clare won the women’s race with Sligo’s Heather Foley second and Dromahair’s Sinead Fowley third.

1,108 runners completed this year’s race – a record for the event.
