The Garda Representative Association in the north west says an in-depth analysis of the Garda Commissioner’s new plan for the force is needed.
Commissioner Drew Harris has announced the Sligo/Leitrim Division will now merge with the Donegal Division and will be in included in the larger North West Region.
The North West Region will also include counties Mayo, Roscommon, Longford, Cavan, Monaghan and Louth.
Garda Ray Wims says they have a lot of questions around how the plan will impact on front-line policing and also how it will effect gardai in rural areas.
