A Sligo/Leitrim TD says the merging of Sligo-Leitrim and Donegal Garda Divisions is cause for huge concern and may over stretch resources in the border region.
Yesterday, plans were announced to merge the Garda divisions in the North West, and with the uncertainty surrounding the border due to Brexit, Deputy Marc MacSharry says the decision is premature.
He says regardless of the outcome of Brexit, there will be further calls for Garda resources in the border area.
He hopes the decision to merge the divisions can be reversed.
