‘Sligo is not somewhere I’d be happy for everyone to know I’m gay’



A gay man in his fifties, who has in recent years returned to Sligo having lived in London for 35 years, insists he’s still not fully accepted as gay in his home town. The man has spoken to North West Today of the bullying he experienced growing up because of his sexuality, and claims that homophobia is still very much in evidence in Ireland, despite the outcome of the Same Sex Marriage Referendum
