Calls for clarity on home energy scheme payments



There are calls for people throughout the north west who did work to make their homes more energy efficient to be given money they thought they would be getting.

It’s after homeowners signed up for the Deep Energy Retrofit Scheme run by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

The scheme aims to reduce heat loss in homes and to promote use of renewable heating systems so as to move away from fossil fuels.

Local politicians are now calling for clarity after the SEAI that the scheme had run out of funding.

Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail TD Eamon Scanlon says people applied in good faith for funding under the scheme, believing there would no problem with funding:
