Coleman to captain Everton for new season

Seamus Coleman has been named as Everton’s captain for the 2019/20 Premier League season.

The Killybegs man led the team out in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the season. It was his 290th appearance for the club.

Coleman joined Everton in January 2009 and regularly stepped into the captaincy role as Phil Jagielka’s deputy last season. Jagielka joined newly-promoted Sheffield United during the summer.

Coleman, who’s 30,  is set for his 11th full campaign at Goodison Park this season.
