Sligo member of FG Northern Ireland Group says Irish government’s role now more important than ever



The Sligoman who is the founder of the first Young Fine Gael branch at Queen’s University in Belfast says the Irish government’s role in Northern Ireland is now more important than ever.

Jude Perry, the son of former minister and Sligo TD John Perry, says with a ‘no deal’ Brexit likely and no functioning assembly for almost three years in the north, the Irish government needs to step-up.

The Ballymote native is now part of the Fine Gael Northern Ireland Engagement Group, which includes Senator Frank Feighan and Sligo/Strandhill Cllr Sinead Maguire

Mr Perry says the government needs to ensure there is a backstop included in the Brexit withdrawal agreement.
