Drop in people signing-on the Live Register across the north west



The number of people signing-on the Live Register across the north west region last month dropped compared to the same time last year.

The greatest decrease was in county Sligo.

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office shows 2,948 people signed-on the Live Register in July this year in Sligo compared to 3,394 last year – a drop of 13%.

Donegal saw an 11.5 % decrease in the past year with just over 10,608 people unemployed there last month – compared to almost 12,000 in 2018.

Meanwhile, in Leitirm there was a 6.3% fall in the number of people out of work with just 1,847 signing-on compared to 1,973 this time last year.

Nationally, there was an almost 12% drop with 28,000 fewer people on the register for the same period.
