Paddy McGrath suffers another cruciate ligament injury

Donegal’s Paddy McGrath will be out of action for the rest of the year after injuring his cruciate ligament in Saturday’s Super 8s loss to Mayo.

The Ardara corner-back was replaced shortly after half-time at McHale Park and while it was initially thought to be a minor problem, it has now been revealed as a cruciate injury.

It’s the second time in his career that McGrath has picked up such an injury.

One of the surviving members of Donegals 2012 All-Ireland winning team, the news means McGrath will now miss Ardara’s club championship campaign in Donegal which begins next month.

It’s a tough blow for the Ardara man who had just battled back from injury to be fit for that Super 8s clash against Mayo last Saturday.

This is the second cruciate injury to emerge from Saturday’s contest with Mayo’s Jason Doherty also injuring his cruciate early in the second-half.
