Rain warning in effect from 2pm this afternoon across the north west



UPDATE: 14.40pm Met Eirean have updated their warning until 10pm this evening. They say to expect ‘Heavy thundery downpours this afternoon and evening which will lead to flash flooding and hazardous driving conditions. Intense rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm in a short period of time likely.’

 

Met Eireann have issued a status yellow weather warning for the north west.

The warning is for heavy rain and is valid from 2pm this afternoon until 9pm tonight.

Met Eireann are predicting a large amount of rain to fall over a short period of time which could lead to localised flooding this afternoon and evening, as was the case earlier this morning along the N56 by Letterkenny.

The yellow warning is in effect across Connacht and counties Donegal, Clare and Kerry
