5G mast providers urged to meet with communities

A Sligo/Leitrim TD is calling for representatives of telecommunications companies to meet with the people in areas where it’s proposed to erect 5G masts.

Concerns have been raised about proposed masts in Collooney and Enniscrone in County Sligo.

About 30 people from Enniscrone protesting earlier this week outside a meeting of county councillors in Tubbercurry.

Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon says 5G services are welcome and are needed to improve local internet speeds.

But he says the fears of people in local communities can be eased only by engagement.
