Collapsed South Sligo bridge will not be reopened in time for school buses in September

A bridge that has collapsed on a road in South Sligo will not be repaired before school buses resume their runs in September.

It’s the Coolrawer Bridge on the Curracunanne road, linking Banada and Charlestown.

The issue was on the agenda of this week’s meeting of councillors in Tubbercurry from the Ballymote/Tubbercurry/West Sligo area, with motions from Fianna Fail Councillor Paul Taylor and Fine Gael Councillor Martin Connolly.

Both councillors pointed out that a major concern has been the inconvenience caused to students travelling on school buses, as Cllr Connolly explained.
