Sligo County Council requested to reconsider rules over ‘children at play’ signage

Sligo County Council has been requested to reconsider its rules which only permit ‘children at play’ and speed reductions signs to be erected in estates that have been taken in charge.

The issue was raised at yesterday’s meeting of the Sligo/Strandhill area of the council by Cllr Rosaleen O’Grady.

The Fianna Fail cllr says estate such as Brooklawns in Sligo town has not yet been taken in charge and safety signage is needed there immediately as there is a crèche and a green area where many children play on daily basis.

Cllr O’ Grady says it’s vital these signs are put in place sooner rather than later to remind motorists to slow down.
