The speed of vehicles through the towns and villages in north Leitrim is being described as very serious and warning have been issued that unless safety measures are taken there could be serious accidents.
Particular safety concerns have been raised over the issue in Killargue and Lurganboy.
Independent Councillor Felim Gurn recently tabled two separate motions to highlight the concerns of residents in both areas at a meeting of the Manorhamilton Muicipial District of Leitrim County Council.
Councillor Gurn is calling on the council to take measures to help control the speed that vehicles can reach in residential areas.
